Sean Knapp is the founder and CEO of Ascend.io. Sean brings with him 20 years of data engineering experience.
Prior to Ascend.io, Sean was a co-founder and CTO at Ooyala, where their data backbone powered ML and analytics for some of the largest media companies, telcos, and cable operators in the world. Sean also played key roles in scaling the company to 500+ employees, ultimately culminating in Ooyala’s $410m acquisition.
Before founding Ooyala, Sean led Google’s legendary Web Search Frontend Engineering team, where they drove an increase in Google’s revenues by over $1B.
Sean holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and competed in Cross Country and Track & Field.
